even ignoring my well-documented bias towards mlp femslash ships it’s just like… genuinely disturbing to me that fluttercord got so popular in the fandom? and very few fans seem to see anything weird about it? like fluttershy is like in her 20s, and discord is an elderly man. not just in the “he’s a magical being over 1000 years old” way like celestia and luna, like he is literally designed to look, sound, and act like an old man. he’s just john de lancie’s fursona, and de lancie is 70 years old. his idea of fashion is a zoot suit. he is old as balls. he’s also this horrible, petulant ticking timebomb who flips out whenever people aren’t paying attention to him, and continues to actively cause massive problems for everyone until literally the end of the show. he’s only “nice” in later seasons because celestia showed up on fluttershy’s door one day and said that she had to babysit him. it’s literally her job to fix him. she shows him infinite kindness and patience because that’s the type of person she is (and because the immortal ruler of the country literally said she had to), and all he does is take advantage of this. she has to do all the work in the relationship and all she gets out of it is a mildly amusing guest she can have over for tea sometimes who also constantly causes national crises and nearly gets her killed on a regular basis
somehow people look at this and go “wow, how romantic”
